2011 TOURNAMENT

TOURNAMENT BENEFICIARIES

Loaves & Fishes

Loaves & Fishes, run by the St. Vincent de Paul Society, provides free, nutritious meals in a dignified, safe, and caring Christian environment during Lent. This service is open to families trying to make ends meet, those who are homeless or living in shelters, and those who might be lonely seeking company at meal times, especially seniors. Dinner is served every Sunday evening from 5:30 – 6:30pm at St. Theresa’s Hall.

John Pacheco

John Pacheco, 55, of St. David's, has lost both his legs, most of his fingers, and is in imminent danger of losing his hand to diabetes. Although Mr. Pacheco has lived in Bermuda since he was 12 years old, he is classified as a "long-term resident" rather than a Bermudian, and therefore all official avenues of financial assistance have been closed to him and his family.

JayLynn Hines

JayLynn Hines is one of the top junior show jumpers in Bermuda and was shortlisted for the 2010 Junior Athlete of the Year award. She has traveled to Canada, the USA and Germany to train and ride in competitions and has

received numerous end of year Bermuda Equestrian Federation championship awards. In addition, she was selected as a Bermuda Sun Junior Sports Personality of the Year nominee in 2008 and 2009. Over the last few years, she has represented Bermuda in show jumping competitions in several Caribbean countries, Florida, New York, Chile, Ecuador and Germany.

Spirit of Bermuda

It is our hope to also assist a bright, energetic, young Bermudian to join the Spirit of Bermuda on one of their voyages this summer. The price of these voyages are in excess of $3,000 per student. These voyages are a wonderful learning tool and experience and we would like to assist someone who may not be able to afford the experience.
